FREE MONEY FOR CHRISTMAS !

Claim your £520 / £1,040 Child Tax Credit!

If you have a child born between 1986 and 2003, you are entitled to £520 or even £1,040

It is easy to claim but you must do so before the 31st January

The year before Tax Credits were introduced there was a different non-means tested allowance available which was never advertised by the inland revenue.

It is called the Children's Tax Allowance for the tax year 2002/03

If you have not received the allowance already, you can still claim it before the deadline of 31st January 2009.

You will need to phone HMRC on 0845 302 1437 and ask them to check whether you have already received this allowance - you will need your National Insurance Number.

You are eligible to claim an allowance of £520 if;

* You have a child born between 6th April 1986 and 5th April 2003 AND
* The child lived with you for all or part of that year AND
* You worked and paid tax for all or part of that year AND
* You or your partner earned over £6,000 in their 2002/03 Tax Year

You are eligible for an allowance of £1,040 if;

* You can answer yes to the four questions above, and
* One of your children was born between 6th April 2002 and 5th April 2003

NOTES
Making a claim does not affect your current or future entitlement to Working or Child Tax Credit.

Your marital staus is irrelevant.

You cannot claim the allowance twice and if your final tax code on April 2003's P60 ended in an H or T you have already had the allowance.

This is easy to claim, first phone the number above and check whether you have received the allowance (you probably have not).
You then need to write to your local Tax Office (ask HMRC for the address when you phone), with your details to claim the allowance.

NEW!!! NEW!!! NEW!!!

Here is a link to the HMRC Form which you can fill in and send to your local Tax Office. It's a PDF File so you will need Acrobat reader to download and print it.

If you need any help with your claim post a message here and I will do my best to answer any queries.

Also, it would be nice to see this wall filled with messages from people who have successfully claimed a bit of extra Christmas money !

What are you waiting for the clock is ticking.
